Elder Care Agency in Middlebury, CT
Have you noticed that your Mom or Dad, Grandmother or Grandfather have slowed down a bit? Are you worried that they may not be able to take care of themselves properly? Is getting over to spend your hours with them becoming more and more difficult? Let’s face it, as our bodies age, our daily routines most certainly bring challenges that are unique to an aging population and our families. Sometimes you just have to admit that they—and you–just might need some help. That’s where we come in.
At Companions & Homemakers, our goal is to provide your aging family members with the 24-hour resources you need to support you as a family caretaker and your loved ones, so they can safely stay in their own homes. We believe that “Home is Possible.” And that makes all the difference in the world. Staying in their own home offers a sense of security and well-being, a chance to retain their daily habits and routines in comfort and familiarity. In short, we provide them with the care they need to live a happy and healthy life for the rest of their days. That’s something that just can’t be wholly realized within senior living facilities.
Middlebury Caregivers for You or Your Loved Ones
Our staff has a passion for helping family caregivers get a much-needed break from the sometimes rigorous physical, mental and emotional responsibilities of worrying and caring for their loved ones. Whether the family caregiver is right next door here in Middlebury, out of state, or even across the country, we provide constant communication to update and inform our clients so that they are fully aware of any changes or issues their loved ones might be experiencing.
Why Our Caregivers Are the Right Choice, Every Time
We are a privately owned, non-franchise company that has been caring for the elderly in their homes across Connecticut since 1990. Unlike most care agencies, our caregivers are actual employees, not independent contractors. Many have been with us for years because we offer schedule flexibility and benefits including health insurance and a 401(k) plan with company match for qualified employees. That means we are very particular in who we hire. Our hiring process includes a comprehensive background check and a thorough vetting process with the goal of creating lasting relationships between our clients and caregivers. It’s not only about providing a caregiver who is trustworthy and dependable, it is also about understanding the individual, so a personalized relationship can develop if desired.
Our “essential services” are focused on keeping the elderly out of nursing homes and assisted living facilities by offering what we call our “Continuum of Care”…the right amount of assistance for each person’s unique situation that is designed to evolve as the person’s needs change over time. From hourly personal care to round-the-clock live-in care, we excel at providing a supportive presence that can include bed-bound care, incontinence care, sponge bathing, feeding, medication monitoring, and so much more.
We have field coordinators that can train our caregivers to use Hoyer Lifts, Sera Lifts and Gait Belts to help semi-mobile or non-mobile clients move out of bed and into other areas within their homes. Our caregivers can help families recognize when it might be a good time to discuss moving to the “next step” in the client’s Continuum of Care and daily care routines.
The ability to “age in place” offers your loved ones the opportunity to stay put, to sleep in their own beds, to have a cup of coffee in their own kitchens, and to sit in their own easy chair. It tends to enhance quality of life, which improves physical and mental health. It also insulates them from any viral risks sometimes found in crowded senior living facilities, reducing their chance of contracting any serious illness. In addition, compared to the costs of nursing homes and assisted living facilities, home care offers cost-saving opportunities and the benefits of one-on-one care and attention as compared to the one-to-many model of facility-based caregiving.

Middlebury Live-In Home Care Agency
Our most all-inclusive service, live-in home care provides true peace of mind around the clock for those who need continued support.

They can assist clients as needed with everything from the routine activities of daily living to more focused levels of personal care and beyond…up to and including end of life care if needed.
